My Dear People,

Following the creation of the human race. Almighty God created the institution of Marriage. He did so for the procreation of the human race and for the expression of love and support between a man and a woman. Jesus Christ raised this union to the dignity of being a Sacrament of His Church and declared "for this reason, a man shall leave his father and mother and cling unto his wife and the two shall become one flesh." (Matthew 19:5). Christ clearly taught that marriage is an unbreakable bond between one man and one woman. The Church, true to Her instruction of her Master, has repeated His teaching faithfully for two thousand years.

As you know, last week the Supreme Court made a decision to change that holy and divine definition of marriage throughout the entire United States. This new definition allows for two persons of the same sex to enter into a so called marriage. Such unions are forbidden by the law of God and are grievously sinful.

Our Holy Mother the Church teaches that every person has the joyful dignity of being a son or daughter of God. We are all created in His divine image. The Church also teaches that God wills the eternal happiness of all His children, no matter what sexual attraction they may experience. Nevertheless, the attraction that one might feel to a member of the same sex does not justify inappropriate sexual actions, it does not change God's definition of marriage, nor does it lead to the dignity of individuals or to their eternal salvation. Such persons are called to experience friendships that are chaste.

May the Holy Family, Jesus, Mary and Joseph, bless you as you strive to obey the law of God and may they protect all those who have embraced or will seek to embrace the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony.

Faithfully and devotedly yours in Christ,
