On Sunday, July 28, 2024, the Sts. Ann & Joachim Church in Barren Spot, St. Croix, celebrated their Parish feast day. The event brought together many parishoners in a festive mode.
The Parish feast day was marked by a Eucharistic Celebration, presided at by Rev. Fr. Ronan Sarmiento. The Mass was concelebrated by Rev. Fr. Louis Kemayou, the Pastor, and Rev. Fr. Christophe Tchawa, a Salesian missionary visiting from Italy.
In his homily, Rev. Fr. Ronan Sarmiento emphasized trusting in God's providence, saying, "Believe that God will provide, and He will provide in abundance, so recline and relax." He urged all the faithful, especially the elderly, to follow the example, and seek the intercession of the Patron saints.
Sts. Ann and Joachim, the parents of the Virgin Mary and grandparents of Jesus Christ, are honored on July 26. But the Parish moved this feast to the following Sunday to celebrate as a solemnity, and also give all Parishoners an opportunity to come together and celebrate as a community. The day highlighted the unwavering faith and dedication of Sts Ann and Joachim to God's will, serving as an inspiration for Christian families and a model for all grandparents.
The feast day celebration at the Sts. Ann & Joachim Church was a profound manifestation of faith and community spirit, reminding attendees of the enduring legacy of Sts. Ann and Joachim whose lives continue to inspire Christian families to live in accordance with God's will, nurturing love and devotion within their homes.
